The Potsdamer Platz is a transportation hub in the districts of Mitte and Tiergarten, between the old city in the east and the new West Berlin. It is located west of the Leipziger Platz, directly in front of the former Potsdam Gate.
Attractions include the Panorama point at the Kollhoff Tower with the fastest elevator in Europe, which travels in seconds to the viewing platform. From no other viewing point in Berlin you can see so many highlights of the capital with the naked eye. A tour on two levels leads you around the building.
Visitors experience the past and present in close proximity to one another: on the left is today’s metropolis, on the right you can admire the eventful history of Potsdamer Platz, which can be seen on large exhibition panels.
Also popular is the “Piazza” in the neighboring Sony Center, which is weather protected by a tent-like roof. The steel structure floats like a huge umbrella over the heads of visitors. At night, the structure radiates in colorful candy colors. The Film Museum with the Marlene Dietrich Collection is located in the Sony Center.
