The Kollwitzplatz is one of the most beautiful squares of Prenzlauer Berg. The square is the center of the so-called “Kollwitz Kiez”. Here and on the adjacent water tower place, there are countless street cafes and restaurants, where on warm summer evenings no free space is found.
The name was given to the place because of the painter and graphic artist Käthe Kollwitz, who spent much of her life here on the corner Knaackstraße.
On the green area she is being honored with a replica of Kollwitz sculpture “Mother Love” and a seat-portrait of the artist.
We recommend you to visit a popular and lively Organic Food Market at Kollwitzplatz (every Thursday 12am-07pm). A lot of different organic products are sold here. In Winter (every sunday) there is a small christmas market.
From Hotel Zarenhof Prenzlauer Berg the Kollwitzplan can be reached by foot in only 10 min.
