With the Mauerpark, between the districts of Wedding and Prenzlauer Berg, the death strip of the former GDR Border transformed into a green area. At the back of the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark still stands a 300 meter long rest of the Eastern Wall.
The outdoor area runs along the closed to traffic section of Schwedter Straße, between Eberswalde and Bernauer Straße and the Ringbahn Metro Station. Since there are only a few green spaces in densely built Prenzlauer Berg, the Mauerpark has become a popular meeting place for both residents and tourists.
Every Sunday there is a flea market which gained already cult status, for residents as well as for tourists. Visitors will be entertained with karaoke and be able to enjoy a delicious barbecue.
