The Oranienburger Straße is one of the most famous boulevards in Berlin and offers a lot of attractions as well as many bars and restaurants. Especially in the evening the “O-burger” is a popular spot for tourists and locals.
Who comes from the S-Bahn station Hackescher Markt, discovers on the left hand the Monbijoupark. The park was created as a Leisure park with a children’s pool, playground and large lawn. Before there was the castle Monbijou, it was demolished due to war damage in 1959.
An exciting place of Berlin’s art and culture scene is located just before the confluence with the Friedrichstrasse. In the cultural center Tacheles, located next to the theater, there are about 20 studios, workshops and a café. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the entire war-damaged complex was going to be demolished, but was saved by the intervention of some 50 artists from East and West. Meanwhile, the Tacheles has become an integral and major art and cultural center in Berlin.
