Berlin’s oldest public park is the Friedrichshain, which was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the accession of Frederick the Great after 1846.
A major attraction is the great fairytale fountain at the western entrance to the park, which shows figures from the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm and other animal figures.
In one part of the park there are lawns, well-equipped playgrounds, a duck pond and a cafeteria. It is also possible to borrow sports equipment.
